Lena Burkett is a building scientist with a focus on residential energy efficiency research. Her career has included residential construction, training and running retrofit crews, residential energy rating and modeling, laboratory research, and research management. Lena provides technical research oversight and support for DOE’s Building America Program. In this role, she works to address technological and implementation barriers to energy efficient, resilient, and comfortable homes. Lena’s research interests include installed performance of residential HVAC systems, energy efficient technologies and approaches for existing homes, and energy justice. She holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Hendrix College, and a M.S. in Building Science from Appalachian State University.
