Healthy Homes for All: Weatherization and Home Repair with Public Health in Mind

Remarkable amounts of public funding have been allocated to revitalize our housing stock. This public investment should be leveraged for the greatest public good. During this session, we will discuss developing home renovation and weatherization programs with a public health framework, using lead poisoning and childhood asthma outcomes as an example. We will explore community-level impacts, including increasing equity, prevention of blight and disinvestment, and the sensibility of protecting and improving existing housing stock as we work toward a healthy, sustainable and equitable future for all.
