Will Bryan serves as the Director of Research for the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA), a nonprofit organization focused on leveraging energy efficiency policies to expand access to green, healthy, affordable, and resilient buildings throughout the eleven states of the Southeast. At SEEA, Dr. Bryan leads a research team focused on advancing equitable energy policies through cutting-edge research, geospatial analysis, and storytelling. Prior to joining SEEA, Dr. Bryan taught at Georgia State University and conducted independent research as a postdoctoral fellow at Emory University. He earned a Ph.D. from Penn State in 2013, and his research and writing explore land, water, and wildlife conservation policies in the United States. He is the author of a peer-reviewed book about conservation policy in the U.S. South, which is based on his award-winning Ph.D. dissertation, entitled The Price of Permanence: Nature and Business in the New South, published in 2018 by the University of Georgia Press. His research and writing have also appeared in popular and peer-reviewed venues ranging from The Washington Post to Southern Cultures. Dr. Bryan is completing his second book on sustainable communities, which is under contract with the University of North Carolina Press.
