Dr. Sue Doyle PhD OTR/L initially completed home safety assessments in the Rockhampton Australia region starting in 1980. In 1984/5 she designed and built her first home using what would become visitability guidelines. Again in 2019/2020 she designed and built another home designed for aging in place and accessibility. Sue has taught classes on ADA, ADA audits, home accessibility, wheel chair assessments and home modifications to OT students as an assistant clinical professor. In 2016 Sue started her own home modifications private practice. In 2017 she presented to the Clark County Commissioners on Aging on Home Safety: The Unique Role of Occupational Therapy. Sue presented on billing Medicare for home modifications in 2019 leading to AOTA developing a position statement on billing Medicare for Home Modifications assessments. Sue completed her CAPS training in 2016 and Certified Home Assessment & Modifications Professional training in 2020. Noting limited educational opportunities focused specifically on the therapists' role and skills, Sue developed a certification program specifically for therapists and has been providing training and coaching options in this area since 2020 and until mid 2023 operated her private practice focused on home modifications. Sue provides quality education and coaching for therapists in home modifications.
