Patty Kappaz has supported energy efficiency and renewable energy programs at the U.S. Department of Energy since 2001. She is the program and partnerships lead for DOE’s Home Energy Score program, where she’s had the pleasure of working more than 12 years with state and local governments, utilities, non-profits, and the finance and real estate community to integrate Home Energy Score into their efforts to provide homeowners, buyers, and renters with transparent, actionable home energy information. She also leads communications for the DOE Building Technologies Office’s (BTO) Advanced Building Construction (ABC) Initiative, which is working to accelerate the decarbonization of the U.S. buildings sector through industrialized construction innovations. Before that, she spent four years with DOE’s Solar America Cities program, where she led outreach efforts and provided support to local governments throughout the country with the aim of reducing market barriers to PV adoption.
