Dr. Bruce Tonn is President of Three3, Inc., which is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit research organization located in Knoxville, Tennessee. Dr. Tonn is the PI for the grant awarded to Three3 by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to build a system to alert elders about hazardous indoor environmental conditions. Additionally, Dr. Tonn has led projects to assess the health benefits of weatherizing low-income homes that have been funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, The JPB Foundation, and TVA and contributed to the Massachusetts single family and multifamily non-energy impact studies. He is a co-PI on a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant to the University of Michigan to study the impacts upon mental health and sleep of weatherizing homes in Detroit, Milwaukee, and the four major cities in Tennessee. Dr. Tonn is also PI of a grant to Three3 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to explore why weatherization may not positively impact asthma and assess the relative effectiveness of air purifiers and box fans with MERV filters to reduce asthma symptoms.
